Aubin

Situated at the crossroads of the Lot, Cantal and the Aveyron, Aubin is one of the oldest towns of theRouergue. Built around 193 AD by Claudius Albinus, a Roman general who gave the town its name, Aubin has a long and rich history.It's fort, grain hall, columbage houses, numerous historical churches, chapels, museums of mining and The Resistance Movement in the area all invite you to come and discover its history.

                                                           



Within the area
The Aveyron possesses 10 of France's "Most Beautiful Villages", more than any other department in France.These include to name a few, Conques (World Heritage site): Belcastel: Najac: Estaing: Sauveterre de Rouergue.
Also on the doorstep is the stunning site of Peyrusse le Roc. We also have the good fortune to be situated only a few miles from the famous pilgrimage route of St. Jacques of Compostella.                                                                                               
The Aveyron also boast's the tallest Viaduct in the world, situated at Millau, it was designed by the English architect Sir Norman Foster.

Other Activities

There are several rivers and lakes nearby ideal for canoeing, swimming and fishing. Only a few minutes walk from the house is a beautiful public swimming pool and there are plenty of quiet country walks in the grounds of the house and surrounding area.
